Author: Randy Jones
While Hoboken, NJ is a place not many ‘New Yorkers’ are fond of praising, there are some factors which work well in favor of the Hoboken city as compared to the modern cities of New York and Manhattan therein. Without wasting any more time, let’s point out a few positives of the place:
- The city has a ‘less busy’ air around it and seems like a welcoming sight after working a day off in the demanding environments of hectic metropolitans. This place is perfect to be called home, away from the frenzied streets and cut throat competitive settings of larger cities like NYC.
- It is conveniently connected to the New York City for the benefit of the daily commuters including professionals and students. Buses to and from the NYC run with regular frequencies on Washington Street, Clinton Street and Willow Avenue.
- Every sort of convenience and amenities like restaurants, bars, pharmacies, florists, parks etc could be easily found within walking distance from wherever you choose to live in the town as the city in itself is condensed in almost 1 square mile area. One can also avail the benefit of the town taxi service that would take you anywhere for an approximate $5.
- Hoboken is way too ahead in the education and employment sectors as compared to the rest of the New Jersey with an average increase of 6% and 52% on the standard recorded values respectively. It reports higher income per capita rates than most of the other cities in NJ and boasts of a prosperous and booming housing market with higher median housing values.
- The city offers a spectacular view of the Hudson River with beautiful parks and tree lined streets to enjoy the morning jogs and leisurely evening walks around the block.
- Hoboken hosts a bunch of festivals every year including the Arts and Music Festival (biannual), MutzFest and a very special St. Patrick’s Day parade. Farmer’s markets from June- November make shopping groceries more fun and cheerful for the residents.
- It costs a mere $10 for a yearlong parking pass in Hoboken city! Do you need any more reason than that?
