New Honda Civic Sedan and Coupe Revealed Online in Patent Images
Those considering the Honda Civic Sedan for sale may be interested in the latest development in the model. The design for the new Honda Civic sedan and coupe models was revealed recently on the internet. The images are claimed to be patent renderings for the tenth generation of this popular model were found and published by a forum administrator on the CivicX.com site. It is thought that the renderings were found on the American patent database.
If the images for this new Honda Civic sedan are accurate, this provides the first look at the intended changes to the tenth generation civic sedan and coupe variants. The drawings reveal that the new design is very similar to the concept model unveiled earlier this year at the New York auto show.
The Civic Concept was painted a vibrant lime green and featured sporty bumpers on the front and rear, rear spoiler and body kit, not present in the patent renderings. It is speculated that these features may be held in reserve for the more sporty Si model. It looks like the coupe models will retain the wrap around tail lights seen on the concept. At the front, the coupe and sedan have a chromed winged grill and side windows with only the frame upper portion is covered in brightwork.
The new Honda Civic Sedan is expected to be officially launched in the near future. America will have access to the new Honda Civic sedan for sale in the later part of the year, but there is no release date set for other global markets including Australia as yet.
The next generation hatchback Civic is anticipated to be debuted later in the year. The American market is set to be supplied with Civic hatchbacks manufactured at the Honda facility in England. According to Guy Melville-Brown, exterior design leader for the Civic Concept, the instructions for developing the design were to "basically create the most charismatic, ambitious and sportiest Civic ever made". Melville-Brown believes that his team has created a model which would have made the company founder proud.
When asked if the concept and resulting production versions took design cues from previous generations, Melville-Brown said that the process was not particularly about design cues or superficially interpreting things, but to create a new car which "embraces the philosophy" for the model, embracing the Honda brand emotion, aggression and virility.
Melville-Brown has said that the Civic needs to almost provide a halo car for the Honda brand. He believes that the new Honda Civic sedan and hatchback models should embrace an "undiluted expression of everything" the brand stands for. If these patent renderings are accurate, it looks as if this goal has been accomplished and the next generation models will create a real buzz on the market.
