Fake watch busta
The fake watch busta is a famous instagram and twitter account with 273,000 followers (Instagram). The holder of the account, known to be a 30-something year old anonymous man, has made name ‘busting’ rappers, boxers, actors such as Waka Flocka Flame, Soulja Boy, Rick Ross, Future, Sundy Carter, Sean Kingston, Manuel Charr and many others; calling them out for their fake watches. He is also points out ‘legit’ shops where quality watches are sold. He gained over 77,000 followers in less than 3 months.
Where Does He Find Them?
When interviewed by Hondikee, Fake watch busta explained how the account works and how he finds these people. He conducts his searches on social media (Twitter and Instagram) using #Rolex. It gives away many of the showoffs and it is amazing how a lot of people are constantly trying to portray their fake watches as real to draw likes from other social media users. When a scapegoat is found, he posts the fake watches and the showoff and uses harsh tags of insults to generate humor. He also tags friends of these people to deepen the embarrassment.
How Does He Know?
He is not a watch maker, according to him; he is only a freak for detail. Apparently, he is obsessed with the very fascinating details on wrist watches and mostly the mechanical aspect and not even the luxury. He cares about the details in watches and is awed by how much goes into things that small. He studies the movement and quality control issues and has expert friends that put him through.
His criticism is not based merely on what he knows. He seeks the opinions of people who know even more than he does so as to not make any errors while spotting those of others. He cannot afford a scandalous mistake of his own. His habit of calling people out and tagging their friends is considered unnecessary and cruel by many; almost as many fans as he has. Objectively, he is, in some way, helping to curb fakes and replicas by promoting the "real deals" and is enlightening people on the easy to miss differences between the replicas and originals.
The Swiss Rolex Sea-dweller Eta and Eta 2836 are some of the wristwatch brands he has called artists out for.
Just Hating?
The fake watch busta account, according to a twitter user- @DKarn3- "has been the biggest threat to rapper credibility since 2Pac". This tweet was captured and posted by the Fake Watch Buster about 15 weeks ago. He recognizes rappers such as Meek Mill, JayZ, the late 2Pac and Snoop Dogg for credibility in their wristwatches.
His instagram account has been shut down a couple of times for harassment of other accounts. However, he is appreciative of the original watch accounts and rappers that have acknowledged what he does. To him, they are the ones that can see what he is doing.For more details click here.
