Washington, DC-MD-VA-WV - Ten years of exceptional community service and education will be honored at the Guns and Hoses Law Enforcement and Firefighters fund-raising softball game on Aug. 16, 2015 at 5pm with the Potomac Nationals at Pfitzner Stadium. Stafford County Sheriff, Charles Jett, the Stafford Junction Board and Reality Realty Virginia Heroes will raise money, awareness and the spirits of our communities' children.

"Reality Realty Virginia Heroes is all about putting back into the community," said Samuel Cachola, Reality Realty owner (http://www.VirginiaHeroes.com). "As I discussed the Potomac Nationals supporting Stafford Junction's milestone celebration with the team's general manager, Josh Olerud, simply remarked 'it's a no-brainer; community, baseball, children. It is what we do." In fact, the PNATS are holding a "Pirates and Princess" the same night; it's the perfect opportunity to bring your Princess and Bucco to the ball park, said Olerud.

One decade ago, Stafford County Sheriff's Department completed an assessment of a particular high-crime neighborhood in Stafford County. This assessment cited numerous challenges including poverty, domestic violence, substance abuse, unsupervised children, and an influx of non-English speaking Hispanic and refugee families.

Sheriff Charlie Jett asked for help from the community and Stafford Junction (http://www.staffordjunction.org), a faith-based nonprofit organization, answered the call. They have worked diligently to improve the lives of our community's children, their families and the neighborhood.

"We have so much to be proud of and celebrate," said Linda Hill, Stafford Junction Executive Director. "Inviting our supporters, volunteers, and children out to share in this community victory is a home run!"

The "P-Nats" support of community law enforcement hosting the "Guns and Hoses" softball fundraiser is a perfect venue to celebrate Stafford Junction's milestone and the children's success! The Stafford Junction Board is excited about recognizing their staff, and sharing special recognitions with their volunteers.

"There is so much power behind a 'thank you,'" said Hill. "Stafford Junction wants everyone who invested, believed, volunteered, and supported to know we are grateful for their trust and confidence."

Baseball holds a special place in our hearts as "the Junction" has participated in the Cal Ripken Sr. Foundation's "Badges for Baseball program" specifically designed to pair Officers and children together to play, learn, and build trust, explains a Stafford Junction Board member and volunteer. Everything begins and ends with trust. When the children and families trust both their hearts and mind are opened said the board member.

Badges for Baseball is just one program Stafford Junction facilitates! Brain Builders, HUGS, Healthy Living Pays, Summer Junction and Life Skills workshops help to build strong bodies, minds and spirits the entire year.

Stafford Junction is a leader in a county that currently enjoys the support of Stafford County's police force, Stafford County Schools, The Rappahannock United Way, local churches, and Doris Buffets Sunshine Lady Foundation. Working with state grants, they have powered life-changing programs from education to healthy living and they have been able to reduce the crime rate in supported neighborhoods by fifty percent.
