In today’s time, one’s physical perfection is the most important thing. People spend lots of money just to make their physical appearance attractive. The physical appearance not only includes body and face but also teeth and smile. People go for cosmetic surgeries to get best body, smile and teeth. But unfortunately, some people have unaligned, overcrowded and crooked teeth. The easy solution for all these problems is braces. Dental braces can correct crooked and crowded teeth, a misaligned bite, and jaw problems. Braces can also eliminate problems related with eating, speaking, or with keeping your teeth clean. Braces are of various types: traditional metal braces, clear braces, lingual braces and invisalign.

Traditional Metal Braces: These braces are made up of metal brackets that are attached to your teeth with an adhesive and connected by wire. It is the most common cosmetic surgery in the field of dental. They are attached to the front side of the teeth which make them clearly visible.

Clear Braces: These braces are of ceramic color or same as the teeth color. They are same as the metal braces but the difference is that they are not properly visible. They are blend in to the teeth. They also do faster alignment of the teeth but the cost is little bit high as compared to metal braces.

Lingual Braces: These braces are the most expensive braces among these three. They work same as the other two but in this the braces are attached at the back side of the tooth or the inner side of the mouth which makes them invisible from outside.

Invisalign: These are aligners which are made up of clear plastic and available in the form of the tray. They are clear in color and not visible. They are wearer for 20-22 hours a day and are removable.

All these braces are used to correct the teeth problem but the traditional metal braces are the best as they solve every teeth problem and also for every age group. They are also useful for severe cases whereas invisalign and clear braces are not much effective as they are made up of plastic and do not have much grip on the teeth. They are useful for normal cases and also require more maintenance than the metal braces. Moreover, metal braces once fitted require few visits to dentists in a year whereas in case of invisalign, you have to change the aligner after every 2-3 weeks as the shape of the aligner will be changed to align the teeth properly which make them expensive.

Correcting teeth does not end with wearing braces. It also includes maintenance and oral hygiene as unhygienic mouth may also lead to gum problems and tooth decay. The Invisalign and clear braces require proper cleaning, otherwise the color of the brackets become pale and visible. Brushing is one of the most easy and important way to clean our teeth with braces. After brushing, rinse your mouth well to get rid of the particles that get dislodged from under the wires. Maintaining a good oral hygiene routine of cleaning your teeth with braces toothbrush helps prevent tooth decay. For more maintenance, visit your dentist at least twice a year.
