Non invasive physiotherapy procedures are popular across India, and one of the important procedures employed in case of spinal problems is spinal compression in India. A spinal decompression therapy is a non-surgical procedure that helps in treating pain in different regions of the body like lower back, legs, neck and radiating pains from shoulders to the arms. A spinal decompression machine is used for providing spinal traction or decompression that involves a stretching of the spine, providing relief to pain caused due to displaced discs along the vertebra. It attempts to produce a healing environment to degenerated, herniated and bulging discs.

Spinal compression in India employs the same principal, as is popular worldwide. The spinal decompression machine is used to stretch and relax the spine alternately, which is believed to produce two useful effects. Firstly, the procedure helps in relocating the bulging or herniated disc back to its original position. Secondly, it is believed that spinal decompression allows the passage of healing nutrients which promotes an environment, ideal for healing.

If you are going for spinal compression in India on your health expert’s advice, your treatment will vary between sixteen to twenty sessions stretched over some weeks, depending upon your condition. Each session can last anything between half to quarter of an hour. Sometimes in addition to the use of spinal decompression machine, your health expert can also use other techniques like hot or cold compression, ultrasounds and electric stimulations. Along with your spinal compression treatments, you can be advised some medicines, nutritional supplements and exercises that would help to ease your pain while strengthening your spine under decompression treatment.

A spinal decompression therapy is aimed at healing of vertebral discs, and it is applied to a broad range of conditions. So it is found to be applicable in case of lower back, leg pains, sciatica, spinal arthritis and degenerative discs. It provides relief to the spinal nerves, encouraging blood flow and therefore many patients experience immediate relief from pain after a spinal decompression session. Also, spinal decompression encourages healing of the spinal discs in a natural manner as against invasive and surgical procedures or painkillers for the same. Surgeries are costly and can have many side effects, and painkillers can only reduce the pain while keeping the root cause undetected. In comparison to these, a decompression therapy has little or no side effects and is a cost effective option. With regular decompression sessions, your medicine intake will slowly reduce.

Spinal decompression is undoubtedly a preferred option for treating spinal disc problems but it can be applied only on recommendation of an expert. Sometimes, spinal decompression cannot be recommended in case of pregnancies, surgical histories, spinal infection, artificial spine implants, spinal tumour, multiple back surgeries and others.
