World Bank ranked Ludhiana as the city in India with the best business environment in 2009 and 2013 twice. With smart city financing, the Municipal Corporation of Ludhiana will undertake to retrofit of the old area of Sarabha Nagar and reconstruction of Jawahar Camp.

The city has meaning plans for urban connectivity and public transport by way of making more forceful its city bus network and improving environment-friendly transport. As part of the environment-friendly transport, there is a plan to change polluting diesel auto-rickshaws with GPS-enabled smart e-rickshaws, as well making the city a bicycle-friendly city, leveraging on its strength of being a big cycle manufacturing center.
