Although it is a granted presumption that social networking is a thing for the youth, let’s take a moment to rethink that assumption. There are ample bloggers and profiles of people outside the bracket of the "young". The blogs and status are designed to please the youth and there are comparatively very less people who generate content or services online keeping in mind other readers beyond the basic bracket. Although there are optimized services for older people and youngsters but drawing a line between the two hasn’t been helpful in some matters.

For example, if we were to look at one of the social networking websites; the trend is to post travelling pictures or pub hopping. It has been taken for granted that appeasing major number of young people is more important than being relevant beyond the age group. There are seldom any websites that offers elderly sensitive services. Parents have to feed in passwords to avoid little ones getting on social networking. The "openness" of these websites gives an individual freedom of expression but also leaves people addicted to it. Since each habit has its own advantages and disadvantages, the habit of socializing online has its own effects on the individual. It might turn them more social and open personally or restrict their socializing to the online world, by consuming most of their time.

Socializing personally in parties and meet-ups is not age sensitive and that is how social networking also works ethically but in real practice. The situation is different, how active is a young person online and the amount of time elderly person spends online varies majorly because o level of responsibilities and interest. Online websites also provide mp3 free music and there are best stock photo sites, such websites interest all irrespective of age. Gone are the days when all people of the community met on weekends or holidays to interact, the days have lead to a present where digitalization mans formation of family and group chat groups. These although connect people on a regular basis but also lack the essence of personal proximity which was so important in interaction.

Socializing with the same age group or socializing while we are young leaves an idea of barren livelihood. Interacting with people from older age group gives us more wisdom and experience which is much needed in everyday life. Interacting with the young render happiness and carefree attitude to everyone who is around, such practices will make life more worthwhile.
