Some Basic Ethics of International Journal of Engineering and Technology

We all need some kind of information at certain points and to gather that information, we look for the relevant sources on the internet. International journal of Engineering and Technology is peer-reviewed articles that are published covering various fields of engineering that may include engineering in mechanical, chemical, civil, electrical, industrial, mechanical, computer, and so on. Journal of Engineering presently has an acceptance rate of around 16%. But every article those are published need to follow the basic ethics of publication to ensure the expanded public trust so that people accept credits for their ideas.

Plagiarism – the journals published should have original content, that is, the content should not be published before and also should not be under review elsewhere. To check the originality of the content, the writer can use the plagiarism checker software to detect the similar and overlapping texts in submitted manuscripts. Manuscripts those are found to be plagiarized will incur plagiarism sanctions that will loosen the public’s trust towards the research findings and the idea.

Author listing – the author’s name listed in the International journal of Engineering and Technology must have a significant contribution in the technical research findings in the manuscripts. Everyone who contributed to the research findings should be mentioned in the published journals whether it is a student or laboratory technician.

Conflicts of interest – COI or Conflicts of interest occur when the outside issues of research could be reasonably observed to affect the objectivity of the work and its assessment. Whether they have any influence or not, but, the potential conflicts of interest needs to be declared to take informed decisions. The declaration of conflicts of interest would not hinder the article to be published but will prevent from someone getting involved in the review process. Undeclared conflicts of interest may incur sanctions. Further, submission with undeclared conflicts that are revealed later can be rejected from being published. Published articles need to be re-evaluated, have a corrigendum published, or in certain cases be retracted.

Conflicts of interest may include the issues such as:

  • Affiliations – on the advisory board for, being employed by, or a member of an organization with the interest in the research findings or the results of the work.
  • Financial – financial conflicts include funding and other payment issues, i.e. goods and services received by the authors for the contribution in the International journal of Engineering and Technology with an interest to get the outcome of the research conducted.
  • Intellectual property – have a copyright by someone or the other organization.

Ideology – everyone has a different point of views, beliefs, or activism that are relating to the research work.
