The sudden rise of computer and internet technology has led to tremendous advancement of social networking sites. People today are actively sharing anything and everything with the whole world online. But there are a wide range of subjects that need to be further explored upon when it comes to this new phenomenon.

Apart from the non-stop likes, favorites, shares, etc., a deeper effect of social media can be found in the way the consumers and the producers handle this technology. This effect can be seen among quite a few avenues.

Even though the basic features of interaction and communication are almost same on any social networking site in India, the following are the 3 things that you could be missing out on them –

1. E-learning:

Gone are the days when one had to spend hours and hours at a local city library to find subject for a research. Some social sites have morphed into a provider of online library with easy categorization of subjects. Anybody can get access to the subject of their choosing and can find interactive videos, solve mock test papers, and get instant feedback. Many people can find this approach as time saving as they can study and research on the same site on which they chat with friends or family.

2. Copyright free access:

There has been steady growth in awareness among web users regarding the usage of images which are rights-protected and the repercussions of using those images without the permission of its author. So now they are shifting towards free royalty free images that are under a proper framework on some social networking sites. These images can vary in their formats such as GIF or JPEG.

Another reason why these sites are hosting such pictures is due to the sharp increase by users in sending funny or sarcastic photos in the form of memes to each other.

3. Changing the tune

Internet has reached to both rural and urban India and with it; it has taken a new form of entertainment for the masses. Sharing of audio-videos has become a common thing now. Apart from the general public, this high-speed internet availability has also changed the way the entertainment industry provides its content. For example, the music industry now has their music store online that not only gives you a whole range of music but also different ways to buy it. Previously one had to buy a whole cassette full of songs but now, one can simply pay for the song he or she is interested in listening to.

It is important to understand that social networking sites and their content will keep changing and evolving in the future. It is best to stay updated with the trends occurring in this arena so that one can stay safe with the information being shared.
