Cosmopolitan cities in the USA, UK, Australia and rest of the world are really becoming a part of the changing cultural landscape. Some years back a handful of people used to apply piercings and tattoos on their bodies and now 1 out of 10 American love piercing. They procure piercing supplies like wholesale belly button rings, ear piercings, nose piercings etc. from the retailers and get these supplies pierced from professional piercers.

Piercing in the workplace is a controversial. Though the society is becoming more liberated with every growing day, workplace piercing is still isn’t a mainstream culture everywhere. Employees cannot legally demand tattoos and piercing as a right across the world. Legal systems do protect employees from any discrimination at the work place concerning race, culture, color or religion, but piercing isn’t still covered under the same. Hindu women can legally wear a nose ring at the workplace as that is a part of culture and heritage and not fashion.

Some of the workplaces abide by certain rules of living within the workplace. They may certainly not fire the employees for piercing and tattoos, but they have all rights to get them dressed up the way company’s guidelines demand. The companies that prohibit wholesale belly button rings or tattoos on face might straight out mention the same in the policy handbook most of the times. Moreover, piercing might look a little outrageous at professional workplaces and that said; according to a recent survey by Vault.com, 60% of the employers wouldn’t hire candidate with tattoos and piercing.

There are obvious reasons to maintain a dress code at the workplace and these remains unquestionable. Although you might be highly skilled, you might still be passed on if your appearance is likely to tarnish the company’s brand image and hiring guidelines. Brands like Starbucks have a clear policy that all the piercings must be removed and tattoos must be covered up at the workplace.

Exception to the aforementioned scenario, some employers are also embracing the cultural change and allowing tattoos and piercings at the workplaces. Walmart for example, allows the employees with piercing at the work. They do mention clearly in the policy that the tattoos should not be offensive and the piercing should not be done on the face. Another great automobile brand Ford, allows executives in office to procure wholesale belly button rings and tattoos. They however restrict the factory workers from getting pierced because of the perils associated with operating machineries.

What if you are an art master and can’t leave without tattoos and piercings, but at the same time want to attend work? Well in such a case, consult with your piercer and get your body parts pierced in a way that they do not come in contact with machines, if you work in a factory or otherwise get the tattoos and piercing done in a way that it is not exposed to other co-workers or clients. Change the way you look, but maintain the corporate ethics.
