Teacup puppies are a type of purebred dogs. They are very attractive and unique type of dog. These dogs weigh 4 lbs. It is a type of toy dog. These dogs are very small in size. A toy dog is one that weighs 7 lbs. or less than that. Teacup puppies are named so, as it can fit into a teacup. It is normally not more than four pounds at maturity.

There is a misconception that the Teacup puppies become ill easily, but this is not true. Though their immunity may be compromised, as they are very delicate to handle, hence we need to take extra care of them. It needs regular bathing and vaccination after a certain period. Their immune systems become normal as they grow. The average lifespan of a Teacup puppy is 10-15 years. They do not grow more than seven pounds in its life. They are the miniature version of already small breeds like Beagle, Maltese, Chihuahua, or Yorkie. The most common type of Teacup Puppies is Yorkies, Pugs, Chihuahuas, Poodles, Pomeranians and Shiz Tzus.

These micro dogs are most popular due to their cute looks. Teacup puppies are more easily transportable and can live even in a small apartment. They are easy to handle and can be taken anywhere without any difficulty. They are easy to clean and cost less to feed. Most of them remain tiny throughout their lives.

Teacup puppies are more expensive than the regular-sized dogs. Many teacup schnauzer varieties require regular grooming and upkeep. Because of their smaller structure, they require special attention. Most of the breeders breed them in a mass scale, as they are high on demand. The breeders do not give appropriate attention and take less care of them to earn more profit. This is why many teacups are prone to health problems, like respiratory disorders, hypoglycemia, fragile bones and compromised immune systems. This results in expensive vet care.

Not all teacups are suitable for every environment. Hence, one should compromise his own life style, his daily routine, schedule and household activities. He should think of the presence of children at home, as some of the teacups are nervous in nature. Teacup puppies do not always prosper well in an environment with children or larger dogs. They are delicate and vulnerable to injury from rough handling. The breeder can tell about the habits, personality and health status of a Teacup puppy only after it is at least 6 weeks old.

One must purchase a Teacup puppy from a reputed breeder only after thorough health checkup from a vet. The breeder/ vet should provide at least one-year health guarantee.
