Goliath biomass boilers are designed primarily for wood chips that are automatically delivered from the hopper to a gasification (combustion) chamber outside of the boiler (AZSD unit). The heat exchangers of the boiler transfer extremely hot exhaust gases to heat the water jacket which is circulate by external pump operating by controller. The boiler is made from 1/4" steel plate. There

is also feeding door leading to internal combustion chambers. These chambers can be accessed through the openings on the sidewalls as well for ash removal.

Construction of the Boiler:

Flow of air is controlled with a tilted door in the front wall of the unit. The large sized boilers come with variable speed controlled blowers. Each of the boilers is equipped with the following:

• Temperature Sensor: The sensor is placed on the boilers outgoing hot water manifold. When the temperature is reached, the boiler goes to the auxiliary m o d e ( idle settings) to maintain fire without getting overheated.

• Controller: The burning process is controlled automatically with microprocessor settings by feeding and pause times for the idle and main burning set by operator. The process of combustion depends on moisture content, wood granulation, wood heat value and the demand for heat. An important element of clean combustion iis to deliver the proper amount to fair, depending on fuelquality. Pay attention to no thave excessive air as this will adversely affect combustion.

• Fire Suppression Device: The AZSD unit comes with back burn prevention device. It is installed on auger tunnel. Elevated temperatures activate the device and water is released through the auger tunnel from the suspended container.

• Fuel Hopper: This comes with an internal agitator for metering, bridging and filling of the auger to deliver the right amount of fuel to the burner. There is the AZSD burner at the end of the auger. You can find a mechanical sensor that prevents o v e r feeding to the combustion unit.
