Pregnancy brings in many changes in the body. To deal with these changes one need to be ready with knowledge about the conditions which occur. Skin changes and mood swings are common with pregnant women. Experts advise that proper approach to deal with these situations can easily provide relief. Here we are going to discuss how one can deal with skin and mood changes during pregnancy.

The Mood Swings

It is not uncommon to have mood swings during pregnancy. They are the result of drastic hormonal changes taking place inside the body. For women with history of depression, anxiety and mental disorders these hormonal changes can trigger depression episodes. Therefore it is necessary to keep a close check on mood swing symptoms.

Hormonal changes are to be blamed for mood swings during pregnancy. During first trimester there is change in estrogen and progesterone levels which triggers mood swings. However these are not the only contributing factors. There are many other psychological factors like whether pregnancy was planned, physical health of the mother and natural anxiety and worry about the well being of the child that affect the mood. Some medical conditions like migraines, anemia, gestational diabetes and hyperthyroidism can also result in mood swings.

The Skin Problems

Pregnancy brings in come skin problems as well. Depending on the type of skin-oily or dry problems can be many. Oily skin in women can have increased acne breakouts during first trimester. There is sudden rise in androgen levels in the body which causes increased oil production and results into pimples. Dry skin is not safe either. There is need of extra body fluids and blood to nourish the body. This results into suction of skin moisture and it becomes necessary to keep yourself hydrated all the time. Your life style also contributes a lot to skin problems you have to face during pregnancy.

The Treatment

For the cure of mood swings it is necessary to make sure that the symptoms are not of depression. If it is the case then you can opt for stress-reduction classes or counseling for busting mood swings. Prenatal yoga, exercising and meditation are some routines you should stick to. This will also help you with skin care during pregnancy. Maintain a healthy and consistent diet. Eat more of whole foods and low sugary and cholesterol food. Healthy skin is only possible when you are eating healthy.

Skin problems can be easily handled as well. Always keep your skin clean and moisturized. For dry skin make use of lotions which are water based. Wear sunscreen lotion before stepping out in such. Eat diet which keeps your stomach health. Do not much on snacks and junk food. If the acne problem persists or breakout is severe consult the doctors for medication. Do not try to self recommend topical creams available over the counter.

Always involve your partner and tell him about your feelings. All of this will help you to feel good and will benefit your mental as well as physical health.
