Sealing Oxygen Connections With The Right PTFE Oxygen Sealing Tape
Posted: Oct 26, 2013
If you're a gas gas fitter across any industry and work with oxygen, leaving your job confident that you've sealed your connection correctly is everything. There's nothing worse than returning to your job to finish what should have been done properly in the first place and choosing the right sealant tape and using it correctly is sensible to say the least.
Standard PTFE tape is a commonly used tool for getting the job done, for ensuring connections are fast and don't leak, but it does have its shortcomings. It needs to be wrapped, often several times around the connection, which means the threads don’t necessarily line up every time, and to ensure it can be taken off again, i.e. to ensure that the seal doesn't seize, it often needs to be backed off, somewhat compromising the quality of the overall seal.
So this is where high-density PTFE oxygen sealant tape comes in. Take Cobas PTFE Oxygen Tape for example. High density PTFE Oxygen Tape has not been stretched in production, therefore it only needs wrapping around the thread once, sealing correctly first time. Sealing the first time means that your job is done, your customer is happy (and safe for that matter) and you wont need to come back to re-do a job you thought was completed. But the satisfaction in using this sealant tape doesn’t end there. High density PTFE Oxygen Sealing Tape by Cobas is non-combustible. It won’t string or shred (so that means no seizures and leaks), and it’s stable in temperatures ranging from -268 Celsius to 260 Celsius.Furthermore though, you will always be sure that you are selecting and using the correct tape for oxygen connection sealant jobs too, because Cobas PTFE Oxygen Sealing Tape is the only tape to be coloured green, ensuring that you don’t accidentally use an inferior tape that could result in a compromised oxygen seal.
