Posted: Aug 18, 2015
The home grown auto manufacturer, Tata Motors has always been known to produce dependable cars. But they were never called stylish. Tata motors have gone into a revamp mode and after a gap of four years they have come out with two new cars – the Zest and the Bolt. And it does not stop there; Tata Motors has promised to come out with 2 cars every year. A big step up for Tata Motors is it design, interior look and feel or quality, the Zest has certainly our attention.
The compact sedan Zest was unveiled at the 2014 Indian Auto Expo. Based on the X1 Indica Vista platform, the Zest falls under the 4 metre mark. The projector headlights are a first in the segment. The LED daytime running lights give the Zest a premium look.
The Zest comes with a spacious cabin. There are many features in the car, but one of the eye-catching one is the Harman music system with Bluetooth, USB and Aux inputs. Higher variants get a touch screen infotainment system, a first in the segment. Rear parking sensors, dual tone interiors, and comfortable seating are other features inside the cabin.Tata Zest is powered by the same engine specifications as the Bolt. The 1.3-litre diesel Zest develops 90 PS of power and 200 Nm of torque and comes with a choice of two gearboxes. A 5-speed manual unit is standard as well as an AMT, which again is a first for a diesel car in India. The petrol mill is the newly developed 1.2-litre Revotron engine developing 85 PS of power and 140 Nm of torque. The petrol engine offers a multi drive mode – Sport, Eco, and City. The Sport mode is when you need a burst of power, eco mode for excellent fuel efficiency, or city mode for the perfect balance between the two. The Zest now becomes the cheapest diesel automatic one can buy. Performance from the diesel however improves due to a variable geometry turbocharger compared to a fixed one in the Bolt.
Tata reports an ARAI rated mileage of 17.6 kmpl for the petrol and 23 kmpl for the diesel. The Zest comes with a good mix of engine and gearbox choices, is a spacious and comfortable car and comes with a lot of features. The Zest has an excellent ride quality.
The Zest comes in the colours - Buzz Blue, Pristine White, Platinum Silver, Sky Gray, Venetian Red, Dune Beige, and Dark Green. The Tata Zest goes up against the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Dzire, Honda Amaze and Hyundai Xcent in the compact sedan segment. Prices for the Tata Zest range from Rs.4.70 to 8.07 lakh.
Apart from these, there are many more tips like using the headlights properly, keeping the speed limits, not talking on phone while driving and the like which could make driving safer. http://www.carsexpert.in/
