How To Use Modern Office Partitions For A Spacious Office
Posted: Aug 21, 2015
Space management in offices is a major concern when designing an office. Adequate space is an important aspect both functionally and aesthetically. Modern offices also lay emphasis on being visibly spacious as it has a positive psychological impact on employees. It has been seen that employees find it far more satisfactory to work in a wide open room instead of a space cluttered with knick knacks and furniture, however handy they might be.
Here is a look at a few simple ways to make an office look spacious:
1. Use soft colors
Colors play a very important role in creating illusions of dimensional perception. Colors towards the bright side of the spectrum help in increasing the illumination used in a room. Soft colors, when used on walls and the office furniture, helps in reflecting the light, adding depth to our vision and making the room look spacious.
2. Glass partitioning
Glass, the transparent kind, is a great material which can make any area look spacious. This has resulted in the increasing use of glass to make modern office partitions. Use of glass for partitioning maintains the feel of an open plan office which enhances the perception of extended personal space.
3. Vertical storage
A large part of office space is consumed by storage cabinets. Because doing away with them is simply not an answer, the best idea would be to encourage the use of vertical storage space, instead of a horizontal arrangement. The other option would be to consider modern office workstations designed with hidden storage space in the furniture itself. These solutions use storage space smartly and in a way that they do not clutter an office.
4. Symmetry in office furniture
Contrasts in the design and using different types and styles of furniture in an office is not a very good as it creates visual chaos. On the other hand, symmetry in the furniture imbues the office with a calm and soothing aura while making it look larger than it actually is.
5. Use walls
An effective way to save floor and table space is to increase the use of wall space for various purposes. Walls can be used effectively and aesthetically for important décor elements that are necessary yet take up space. For example use wall or ceiling lamps to illuminate small spaces instead of floor or table lamps. This will save space, especially when paired with sleek modern workstations.
6. Minimal mid-room clutter
To make a room look spacious, an effective trick is to keep the center as empty as possible. Office partitions should not be installed in the middle of the office and most of the partitioned workstations and storage cabinets should be placed along the outer periphery as much as possible.
Well, I’m just a simple guy that dreams a bit too much. Yes, I’m deeply in love with life and nature. Even though it’s not easy, I try to smile with every chance I get. I have lots of dreams and ideas, some of them small, some of them really big.
