India is full of aspiring political leaders but hardly few of them meet the requirements of an ideal leader. Many politicians are either corrupt or lack integrity and accountability. And many leaders take the word politician in negative connotations. At present, we can hardly differentiate between a good leader and a bad one. There are barely some good leaders left in our country but we couldn’t point them out as they are being suppressed by the corrupt ones. India being a democracy, we have the full right to choose our leader. Well, it’s hard to define all the qualities of an ideal leader in today’s politicians but still we can build an image of one through these traits:

• Able to lead themselves to lead the Country: Many good leaders are prone to rationalizing unethical behaviors based on their current or future needs. An ideal leader should be able to endure the test of time.

Should believe in Integrity: An ideal leader should move beyond himself and serve the society. She/he should stand above any specific religion and political views and Nature's fury unleashed by human greed

• Have a clear vision of the future: Leaders should have a clear vision of the development of the Country. Those who lack vision, neither can he/she motivate and inspire the team but also cannot perform well on its own.
• Compassionate and focused: A leader should be compassionate enough to understand the sufferings of others and be focused on its duties and responsibilities to alleviate those sufferings.
• Realistic not idealistic: An ideal leader should be a man of his words and should not make promises he could not sustain to collect votes and support.
• Be responsible: An ideal leader should be responsive enough to any problem that arises and should not fail to face it. She/he should be courageous enough to overcome any kind of trial and challenges.
• Patient and down-to-earth: A good leader should be patient and down-to-earth and not air-headed and high temper to avoid

• Confident: A great leader is one who is confident of what he is saying, doing and approaching for.
• Service above self: If a leader is corrupt from heart, mind and soul, then he will not engender the trust, loyalty and confidence of those he lead.

There is no perfect person and leaders are not innately born but every person can become a great leader with enough determination, self reflection, open-mindedness, experience and knowledge to lead the country and fight against various crimes and corruption that people are facing with in everyday life.
