Hot Weather Makeup
Posted: Jun 09, 2016
Okay, so it's summertime and the weather is still hot, hot, hot! But sometimes warm weather makes wearing makeup difficult even if you take the help of a makeup artist in Toronto because it tends to melt off with the afternoon sun. Foundation sweats off, eye makeup evaporates, and mascara runs like it's in a marathon. Here are some strategies to combat the pitfalls of summer heat.
FoundationWhen it comes to foundation, try wearing either a tinted moisturizer, or a creme foundation, using as little as possible of each, and powdering very well regardless of which one you choose. Tinted moisturizers are great for summer because they typically have an SPF factor of at least 15, yet still offer adequate coverage. Cream foundations are also great because they offer excellent coverage yet do not slip and slide as much as liquid foundations. Wearing a pressed powder alone will not usually withstand the oil and sweat that the skin produces in heat and will seemingly disappear.
Eye ShadowsEye shadows and liners can be a huge pain in the summer because they seem to crease, smudge and evaporate. You're best bet to combat the usual pitfalls of eye makeup in hot weather, is to always use an eye makeup primer before applying eye shadow and liner. This creamy product that dries to a matte finish not only provides the perfect surface for eye makeup to adhere to, it also creates a dry environment for eye makeup to last all day and prevents creasing and smudging.
MascaraRaccoon eyes is a common condition in the summer time because mascara tends to run and smear around the eyes. Fight this problem by wearing waterproof mascara. You don't have to be a bride to wear waterproof makeup! In the summer, waterproof mascaras can be the difference between beautifully defined lashes, and you looking like it's the "morning after." If possible, wear a waterproof formula during the day when the sun is at it's hottest, then switch to regular mascara at night, when your skin won't typically perspire as much. Remember, waterproof mascaras are not meant for everyday use all year round as they can severely dry out lashes and cause premature breakage- this advice is applicable to summer months only when the heat is really on. As soon as you are able to go back to wearing regular mascara without the chronic smudging, you should!
