Citizen Promaster Eco Drive Nighthawk BJ7010-09E BJ7010-09 Men's Watch
Posted: Aug 28, 2015
Within simplistic parameters, there’s just one watch to make you soar new heights! Many of you will find this a statement a super-inflated exaggeration but not them who already have come to know the Citizen Eco-Drive Nighthawk BJ7010-09E. It’s a flight watch that applies to the novice as much as the professional pilot, its slide-rule dial-ring taking the credit. Its other plus points are dual-time function, large luminous markers and hands, date and a non-reflective crystal; the second and third points making up for easy readability. But all that aside, very rarely does something come up so well designed and wearable in almost every occasion and is also a pleasure at the same time to write upon.
The inner slide rule is a 2003 concept and is actually an on-job calculator for anyone flying above the ground. The GMT time function is desirable to anyone who juggles with more than one time zone at a time and its stainless steel case, with its brushed finish is way better than what a polish would look in this place. It’s of a size that’s ideal for regular use and the mineral glass crystal (with anti-reflective coating) is built to take hard hits of considerable intensities from any angle. If scratches bother you, this will buy you complete peace of mind.
The screw-down crown (at 3 o’clock) sports an embossed Citizen Promaster Watch logo and discrete texture, is a pleasant piece to operate. Almost opposite to this is the eight o’clock crown; this one’s used to operate inner (pilot’s) slide rule. However, this isn’t a screw-down mechanism but has the texture intact. However, the surprise is: Unlike many other such slide-rule-function watches, the Citizen Navihawk allows doing such calculations while being on the wrist. Besides, it’s smooth but not so much that it will turn accidentally. The case back is also screw-down by nature and being a non-US model, it is deep-engraved; which is, far more attractive than the laser-etched USA version. Additionally, it fares well as a dive watch with its 200m of water resistance.
What will interest us most is its very unusual but very unique GMT dial; something which you won’t see in another watch. It’s not circular, but semi-circular and got two sub-dials within the semi-circular field. The inner one (white) represents 00-12hours while the outer, red one is for the remaining 12 (13to 23) hours. There’s a combination of additional hands; the white pointed one is for AM and the red pointer shows PM. You’ll never find them occupying each other’s fields at the same time.
We’ll end with the movement. As we know the most beneficial point of Citizen Aqualand Promaster movements is they don’t need battery replacements. Light powers it all and it’s the same with this one too. The solar cell and electrical storage unit is built to run for almost an infinity, so whether you want to sell it off later or pass it down as an heirloom, it shall retain its value.
