The main problem that occurs with the fabrics is the color difference or Metamerism. Metamerism is a phenomenon in which a textile material looks different under different lighting conditions. This is a major problem for manufacturers as well as for consumers to choose the product of a particular color and to maintain the consistency of the materials. Hence, to remove metamerism, it is important for the manufacturers to test the colors in different light shades so that the product will look similar regardless of lighting conditions. The manufacturers of testing instruments offer mainly three types of color matching cabinets as per US Spectrum, Euro spectrum, and Asia Spectrum. All the types of the equipment offer different light sources that provide the actual lights of that particular place. Each light which is supplied in the instrument has individual switches to test the fabrics that offer the view of a particular location. In this way, the user can measure the color consistency of fabrics under different light conditions. Moreover, two or more light sources can also be elucidated at one time to view the combined effects of lights on a sample. The instrument is also equipped with a time totalizer which helps to analyze the impact of lights on the materials in a given period of time.

The testing equipment is provided with the various lights like D65, TL84, CWF, TLF, UV light, etc. By using the color matching cabinets appropriately and perfectly, it becomes easy for the manufacturers to produce a high-quality fabric with a uniform appearance in different light conditions to offer a best quality product to the customers.
