KLA Schools Fostering Children’s Development Through Innovative Learning
Posted: Sep 03, 2015
The learning provided in traditional schools puts no emphasis on cultivating interests, traits or passions in their students. As students do not get opportunities to hone their personalities in these schools, this is hampering their individual and creative development. As a result, they may fail to lead a vibrant and dynamic life when they grow up. They may become unenthusiastic towards connecting with their community and remain unconcerned about its needs.
The lack of focus towards students’ individual and creative development in traditional schools is causing a concern among the educators. This disturbing trend needs to be halted and instead replaced with an innovative, interesting and fruitful learning approach for achieving students’ individual and creative development. By motivating children to explore, discover and learn things in a playful and meaningful manner in their early years, they will find a lifelong passion for learning. This will in turn, enable them to grow into thoughtful and responsible citizens in their coming years as they are be able to lead a quality, constructive and purposeful life.
KLA Schools has already taken a step in the right direction by identifying and nurturing passions and interests among students in their preschool years, while providing them innovative learning opportunities. The Reggio Emilia Approach has been KLA Schools’ prime motivation that focuses on providing children a supportive and enriching environment to motivate them towards exploration and discovery and for nurturing their interests. Here learning takes place through a self-guided curriculum.
In KLA Schools, art workshops for kids are conducted where children are provided the opportunity to explore various natural and man made materials in uniquely designed classrooms which spur learning and exploration in them. Children experience these materials independently as well as in small groups. These materials arouse children’s curiosity and help to enhance their knowledge and understanding about them. It also sharpens their cognitive abilities as they learn what differentiates one material from the other.
In order to identify and cultivate the interests of children, KLA Schools provides them a conducive, relaxing and home like environment. The environment itself acts as a teacher for these students as do their parents and teachers who happen to be the child’s first and second teachers respectively.
Artistic and physical development of children is also stressed upon in KLA Schools. For this purpose, specific school programs have been devised which feature various interesting, refreshing and fun-filled activities including games, among others. These programs are conducted by prepared and certified instructors. The activities which children participate in are carefully documented for providing information. This enables children to revisit and reconstruct their ideas, feelings and understandings at a later time. The documentation is also shared with the parents to share knowledge about their child’s experiences and the learning processes involved. It also enables them to fairly assess the progress made by their child during his learning.
Teachers play multiple roles as they participate in nurturing and the development of children including that of an observer, co-learner, researcher and facilitator. The guidance and motivation provided by teachers helps to promote curiosity and learning in children. Parents also become actively involved in their child’s learning process.
KLA Schools is facilitating cognitive, social and linguistic development of children by providing them a home like, comfortable and conducive environment. Here teachers, parents and community are all contributing towards their development. The innovative learning opportunities that children get at KLA Schools will enable them to grow into responsible, and thoughtful citizens in the coming years. They will be having passions and interests of their own which will enhance the quality of their life. This willl also benefit the community as these citizens will be eager to connect with the community and remain responsive towards its needs.
The lack of focus on students’ creative and individual development in traditional schools is affecting their ability to lead a quality life. For children’s proper development during their preschool years.
