Black And White Vintage Photography: A Photography Art in the Past

The unsuccessful million attempts had one day converted into the successful attempt and around the year 1800, a person called Thomas Wedgeood made a landmark invention in this field of photography and by inventing his first camera called "Obscura".

From then this art of Photography is being defined as the art and science of creation of images by recording light or other electromagnetic radiations falling on the objects, either electronically with the use of an image sensor, or chemically with the use of a light-sensitive material such as photographic film.

Photographs are used at various places like for the recreation purpose, keeping the memory, it can also be employed in many fields of science, manufacturing and business, also its direct use can also be for art, and mass communication, and thus, gradually the importance of photographs increases.

From The Past to the Present:

A person called Thomas Wedgeood, around the year 1800, made a landmark invention in this field of photography and made the first attempt to capture the image of an object in a camera called obscura. This camera became the world famous camera and it became the most famous discovery of that time.

He used paper or white leather treated with a chemical known as Silver nitrate. He uses to capture the image by the use of a light-sensitive substance. But he was not succeeded much. As it was observed that the shadows of the objects captured by him who was kept on the surface in direct sunlight, by the use of the obscura camera became faint after some time due to the effect on the silver nitrate. Sometime the shadow images became darkened all over due to the attempt in preventing the uncolored of the photo from being acted upon by the light.

Then in 1839, a light-sensitive technique is discovered which enables the cameramen to take the black and white photographs without darkening and without fading. At all those times and the photographs of all those times are black and white.

With the photographs, immediately the vintage prints are made, called as Negatives, for the record purpose. But gradually changes use to come and then from black and white photography era it changed into colored photography which now has changed into digital photographs.

Thus, the photographs of those old times have become the vintage photographs and several artistic cameramen started collecting those vintage photographs of the renowned persons or the beautiful nature’s pictures, photographs depicting natural environment, landscape photographs, Political issues and conferences pictures, photos on slavery, any event like wedding or the funeral of political leaders and lot more.

Vintage photography collection provides a historical record, and can be used to document environmental changes or various political issues. It also plays a great role in producing evidences in forensic science and murder cases. Thus, its collection has become a step, for some future purpose.
