Washing windows is a tedious chore. Most people hate doing it because they know how much time it takes and how exhausted they will be at the end. Here are presented seven cunning tricks on how to get your windows a sparkling look in no time.

1. Streaking Windows

Appearance of streaks on the windows after your labors can cut your desire off to do it again. Specialists recommend to use a squeegee with a soft rubber edge. Always start from the top to bottom and dry the rubber with a cloth after each stroke. Moreover, avoid cleaning your windows when the sun is shining too strong, because the glass is drying fast and this will make it more susceptible to streaking. Cloudy days or evenings are the perfect time for window washing.

2. Dusty Blinds

Blinds are getting dusty very fast. In order to keep them dust-free for a long time, use an antistatic spray, such as Static Guard. Spray the blinds right after cleaning. You will be astonished with the results.

3. Moldy Window Frames

Leaving next to a sea or an ocean has its pros and cons. One of the biggest issues for home owners living in such areas are moldy windows. The high humidity level in those areas is the main prerequisite for mold appearance. Bleach is a very witty solution in the mold fight. Mix 60 ml of household bleach and 30 ml of laundry detergent in a quart of water. Put your rubber gloves to protect your hands and pour the solution over the spotted area. Let it sit for 10-15 minutes, then rinse.

Also, change your air conditioning system's filters once a month, because they can be the main reason for dust piling up in your home. Actually, modern airtight homes are even more prone to collecting dust.

4. Dusty Window Sills

If your exterior windows are collecting lots of dirt, consider buying floor wax. Applying a coat of it is the simplest way of keeping your sills clean for a longer time.

5. Filthy Shades

There could be two situations - dusty or spotted shades. If they are just dusty, clean them regularly with a soft cloth or the dusting brush on your vacuum. Always dust both sides. If they are spotted, take them off, wash them with a cleaning solution and dunk them in clean water or hold them under the shower. After that, wipe them with a dry, clean cloth.

Tip: Don't forget to take a look at the care instructions to avoid subsequent complications.

6. Secondhand Smoke

Secondhand smoke is a cancer-causing agent, so you should do your best to remove it from your home. Your best friend against the secondhand smoke fight is the ammonia solution. Make your cleaning detergent by mixing 21/2 gallons of water and one cup of lemon scented ammonia. The ammonia will remove the grime, while the lemon scent will make your house habitable.

7. Filthy Screens

The best way to clean window screens is to take them off and wash them outside. What you will need is a soft-bristled brush and lemon-scented dishwashing liquid. Wash them and leave them to air-dry before installing.
