Limestone is the mineral which is the most sought after and is used to extract the calcium carbonate from it. Mineral is a substance which is obtained from the nature’s crust wherein apart from calcium carbonate there are other impurities which are removed later in the process of extraction. Limestone is the most natural way of obtaining raw calcium carbonate. The rocks are actually made of carbonate minerals. These contain magnesium carbonates along with calcite.

How does mining work?

There is a huge lot of sedimentary limestone which is present in the rock deposits in many parts of the USA and Turkey to be specific. These minerals can be extensive enough which cover more than hundreds of millions of square miles. Depending on the thickness as well as the amount of limestone present, the planning for the mining can be done.

Beginning with mining, it may happen that along with the pure parts, there are road aggregates which get pulled over and contain a number of products apart from calcium carbonates. If these quarries are not mined properly, it may happen that the cost of mining can cross more than the cost of extraction.

After the collection of the limestone minerals from various parts of the mining units, they are crushed and granulated. The size of these particles should be taken care of so that while processing, the powder is well graded size wise.

What after granulating them?

Once these granules are beaten into crushers, they are taken up for processing, wherein all the other minute impurities are separated and collected in one area altogether. The properties of these particles are checked in the Quality Analysis department before moving it forward for the final packing.

This assurance of quality gives a real proof of absence of any unwanted mineral particles other than raw calcium carbonate. This affirmation is given by the companies providing calcium carbonate so that the customer clings to their satisfied products.

Thus, limestone is the base mineral from which pure GCC i.e. grounded calcium carbonate is extracted in the simplest way, other than the PCC.i.e. Precipitated Calcium carbonate which requires having a lot of processing as well as adequate measures to count up for. The reactions, the reagents, and the concentrations of all these raw products which are added to it, are all under the scanner of perfection. A small error can turn into producing some other kind of product that is not needed.
