More and more TV shows appear on the screens each year. Therefore, it becomes really difficult to choose the best ones.

10 prospective premiers of this fall for your attention.

1. The Intruders

BBC America, August 23

This show is a new project of the executive producers of The X-Files and a co-director of The Blair Witch Project, the most successful mystical series of the nineties. Despite its graveness, The Intruders is full of unseemly funny clichés, like a secret brotherhood of eternal people and a pair of retired cops, working on the side as writers. In a word, welcome back to the nineties.

2. Houdini

History, September 1

This is a four-hour mini-series about the life of Harry Houdini with Adrien Brody in the lead role. A so-called TV biography about the most famous master of escapes in history will tell you about Houdini’s exploits.

3. Red Band Society

Fox, September 17

The story of the severely ill adolescents in the hospital. Their society is formed the way it, usually, happens in colleges, when each is assigned to his/her own role: the nerd, the beauty, the drabbie, etc. Their red bracelets of severely ill patients become a mark to corroborate their tragic brotherhood.

4. Madam Secretary

CBS, September 21

A TV show about the American nisi of politics. When someone kills the head of the State Department, a former CIA analyst (the main character played by Tea Leoni) is up to hold the office temporarily.

5. Gotham

Fox, September 22

Gotham is a good reason to get acquainted with the grim world of DC Comics. The TV show is based on the comic about Batman. This is a story of a young policeman who is determined to fight evil: Riddler, Joker, Mr. Freeze, etc.

6. How to Get Away with Murder

ABC, September 25

Thriller about a law teacher and her best students, who seem to be too enthusiastic about their attempts to think like criminals.

7. Gracepoint

Fox, October 2

A detective story begins with the murder of a schoolboy in a quiet resort town. While two detectives try to solve the crime, the city starts to transform: masks fall down, and the idyll is bulging at the seams.

8. A to Z

ABC, October 2

The audience knows the conclusion of the story in advance: the main characters will break up. Therefore, their relationships could be easily unscrambled.

9. Kingdom

DirecTV, October 8

A sports drama about mixed martial arts. The protagonist (Frank Grillo) holds a training hall in Los Angeles, has two sons-melee and takes care of his drug addicted wife. At the same time he trains the young fighters: one is as bad as the other.

10. The Missing

BBC1, November 15

Thriller about British tourists who start for continental Europe to visit FIFA World Cup. During a stopover in France their child disappears. It seems that no one cares about the tragedy: locals refuse to speak English, and the whole country is excited about the final football match only. The flashes of fireworks and howling car sirens bring characters to even greater despair.
