Sparkling teeth and tasty treats for couples at Wedding Spectacular
Posted: Sep 22, 2015
"HE was lucky, he bagged himself the office girl," laughs Danielle Cherrill.
"More like you were the lucky one to get the delivery guy," replies fiance Craig Freeman.
The pair, both 28, along with Danielle's son Charlie Grace, eight, were at the Derby Telegraph Wedding Spectacular and had just booked the car that will take Danielle to St Michael's Church, in Willington, on their big day.
The couple, who work together for the Co-op, say that, although their wedding is nearly two years away, they are already sorting out the arrangements.
Danielle, of Willington, said: "I wanted something really classic to get me to the church and this Daimler fitted the bill perfectly. I'm sure it will be a fantastic day."
Danielle and Craig booked the 1982 Daimler DS420 through A&C Vintage Wedding Cars – one of more than 25 firms to host stands at the fair, which took place at the 3aaa County Ground, home of Derbyshire County Cricket Club.
Another of the firms was Woody's Sweet Delights, of Bedford Street, Derby, which offers newlyweds the opportunity to have old-fashioned sweets and a popcorn stand at their wedding receptions.
Roger Wood, who runs the firm, said: "It's a really good fair and I had loads of interest.
"At last year's fair, I took 12 bookings and, by early afternoon, on Sunday this year I took another five, so it was a good return for me.
"Having an old-fashioned sweet stand at a wedding reception is quite in at the moment, especially with the children who are invited.

One couple who showed a lot of interest in Roger's stand were Daniel Jones, 28, and Rachel Millhouse, 29, of Ripley.
The couple have been together eight months and are due to marry in August next year in Ripley, followed by a reception at the Farmhouse, in Mackworth, Derby.
They are set to invite 100 people to the ceremony and an additional 30 or 40 to the evening do.
Daniel, a former Mill Hill School pupil, said: "I proposed to Rachel on a day out in Rufford Country Park while we were having a picnic.
"I thought it was quite romantic."
Rachel, who also attended Mill Hill School, said: "We've sorted the two venues and we're a way down the line in terms of planning.
"The fair was really good and gave us some new ideas as well. I'm definitely edging towards getting a sweet stand – that looks really good."
Another supplier to do well at the fair was Bridge Dental Clinic, in Burton Road, Derby.
It showcased a piece of software that enhances photos of the bride or groom to show them with whitened teeth.
Sonya Wynne, from the practice, said: "We've had lots of interest.
"These days, people getting married look beyond the straightforward things, such as the wedding car, rings and flowers, and see the small, subtle touches that we can offer as well.
"Brides, especially, want to look absolutely stunning on their wedding day. The service we offer is one of those perfect last-minute touches that enables them to achieve that."
Having her hair done by the girls at the Harvey Luke Hair stand at the fair was Emma Ward, 23, of Burton, who is due to marry her fiance, Ian Wilson, of Ockbrook, at Tutbury Castle in August 2017.
She said: "The fair is really good, everyone is really friendly and they have given us so many new ideas for the wedding."
Ian, 28, whose father Gordon Wilson recently retired as night editor at the Derby Telegraph, said: "If you think my dad is paying for the wedding, think again – he's a Yorkshireman!"
Michaela Chapman, of the Brides and Gowns store in Derby's The Strand, was hoping to take wedding dress orders at the fair.
She said: "Most brides are pretty well organised and realise that dresses are bespoke and take up to eight months from the time of the order to delivery.
"But we're still talking to some brides who are getting married next year and have yet to pick their dress. They're cutting it fine."
