As defined by the wikipedia Prosthodontics- also known as dental prosthetics or prosthetic dentistry, is the area of dentistry that focuses on dental prostheses.

The roles of a prosthodontist is to restore esthetics, comfort and function with artificial substitutes. The artificial materials include a vast variety of restorations including dentures, crowns,fillings, oral implants, veneers, and bridges and oral implants.
