Buying hunting property on government auction websites takes time, research and money.

I’m a hunter and today I’m hunting for land that I can hunt wild game on. Specifically I’m looking for land that is going to government auction. I haven’t been in the land buying market for long but there are a few things I do know. I know what I want my hunting property to feature. I know how to find the land. I also know where I want the land to be and how much I’m willing to bid up to.

With what I know in mind I set about finding what I don’t know. I don’t know where the next auction is going to be. I go online and start my search by typing "land for sale government auctions" in my favorite search engine. There are lots of sites that talk about government auctions but I scroll down and find one that specifically says "hunting land." It seems as though there are rules to buying land on this government auction site. I read through the how-to buy and research in the learning center. After further research I see that it’s going to take some time to find hunting land for sale on a government auction website.

In order to narrow down my search I make a list of needs and wants. I need my property to be wooded and to have a water source. I don’t need it to have a shelter because I can build it. However, if there is a hunting cabin on the property it wouldn’t be a bad thing. Also, I don’t want to be hunting on steep hills or cliffs. The terrain can be a bit rough but I need to be able to drive my ATV around. There should be a main road nearby so that the hunting property is easy to get to. I pick three different states that I’m willing to travel to for hunting property and start my search again.

If you are looking for hunting property on government auction websites like I am, I suggest you go to the bank first. You’ll need to have the cash up front to purchase land at an auction. Neither the government nor the auctioneers offer financing options. Armed with information and cash it will be fun hunting for hunting property.

Finally, it’s time to sit back and view properties. Searching to find hunting land for sale on government auction websites can be fun but there are a few things to have in order before actually bidding. You should first go to the bank and secure the cash for purchasing a hunting property. You should know what you are looking for in a hunting property because once you buy it you’re stuck with it. Take the time to education yourself on the fine print of buying hunting property. When it’s all done you’ll be as happy with your new land as I am with mine.
