Pivotcon 2016 to Feature Three Special Showcases Including The Facepalm Festival with Journalist & Author Jon Ronson

NEW YORK, NY, Wednesday, September 23, 2015 – Momentum Events today announced the themes and dates for the three showcases that will form part of the Pivot series of events taking place October 26-29, 2016 in New York City.

The showcases are a prelude to the Pivot Conference, an exclusive event that brings together leading digital strategists, brand marketers and select agencies.

MTV Insights Generations Showcase, October 26th

MTV Insights will take the reins of this showcase offering a carefully researched in-depth examination of the Post-Millennial generation.

The Post-Millennial Digital Natives are an enigma that brands need to solve and MTV Insights can help. Explorations such as High School Today and 50 Shades of Nerd along with in depth research into their audience has given MTV Insights a unique understanding of this complicated group.

The showcase will include a live conversation with actual Post Millennials who will share specific input about brand marketing that either excites or alienates them. Additionally MTV Insights will recap recent research alongside installations from their touring "High School Today" exhibit.

Virtual Reality Showcase, October 27th

Attendees will have the opportunity to explore the power of the leading VR platforms as well as walk away with their our own VR headset.

Presented in partnership with DODOCase, Attendees will experience VR for themselves and understand how brands and organizations can take advantage of the fully immersive customer experience that this new technology offers.

Facepalm Fest, October 28th

Journalist, author and filmmaker, Jon Ronson will host the first ever Pivot #FacepalmFest - an evening of work-related Epic Fail’s, OMGs, WTFs and of course total and utter Facepalms.

Designed to be one part stand-up and one part group therapy; attendees can choose to either bravely share their stories of failure or join the audience in a "collective cringe" as you are regaled with tales of corporate initiatives gone awry with the winner receiving the far-from-coveted "Facepalm D’Or"

About Jon Ronson

Jon Ronson is a Welsh journalist, author, documentary filmmaker and radio presenter whose works include the best-selling The Men Who Stare at Goats (2004).

He is known for his informal, but skeptical investigations of controversial fringe politics and science. He has published nine books and his work has appeared in British publications such as The Guardian, City Life and Time Out. He has made several BBC Television documentary films, two documentary series for Channel 4 and contributes regularly to This American Life.

For his latest book, So You've Been Publicly Shamed, Jon Ronson spent three years traveling the world and talking to people who'd been subjected to high-profile public shamings. Whatever their transgression, the response was to be faced by an angry mob, as Ronson calls them "collective outrage circles" devoted to tearing down said person from any position of power. It does not, Ronson suggests gently, reflect so well on society as a whole.

In a previous book, The Psychopath Test, Ronson explored the unnerving world of psychopaths -- a group that includes both incarcerated killers and, one of his subjects insists, plenty of CEOs.
