After seasons of clean lines and relatively subdued palettes trending at couture shows around the world, the most visually exciting thing to come of Milan Fashion Week 2016 trends so far has definitely been maximalism (aka: Making things hella fun). Color, pattern, and embellishment are all majorly trending during the S/S 2016 shows.

Sure, the textures, textiles, and silhouettes have been appropriately and traditionally light and airy. Plenty of blush and beige hues have even been paired with pastels. However, the runway's biggest and most talked-about shows so far were full of the bright and the bold. From Prada's embellished coats to Moschino's construction-inspired runway to Gucci's brilliant patterns, it's the "more is more" looks that have been total showstoppers.

While I'm not planning on packing up my neutrals, it's going to be hard to resist all of the orange that's going to be popping up when the spring thaw comes. I'm fully planning on pairing it with the heaps of ruffles in the multitude of Spanish-influenced designs, not to mention Dolce & Gabbana's S/S 2016 presentation, which featured all embellished everything. While the minimalist half moon bag was on trend during the shows at MFW, shoes are definitely going to be a bit more during spring as well. Get ready for lots of tasseled, floral, and bright metallic sandals.

After a more subdued fall and a huge wave of minimalism, spring 2016 is all about embracing color, volume, and whimsy. Here are seven pieces to channel spring's more is more mentality right now.
