Becoming a Yoga Teacher

I’m looking for the best teacher training program. I’ve been doing it for many years. I love how it makes me feel. It’s not just an exercise, but a lifestyle. It has given me flexibility in my body and has even helped me lower the effects of stress on my life. I can’t imagine ever stopping my classes. I decided that since I love it so much I’d like to learn how to be a teacher. I think that being able to teach would elevate my level of exercise and maybe even help me make a little extra money every month.

The problem I’m having is that I have no idea where to start looking for a teacher training program. I guess my first step is to talk to my current Yoga teacher to see where they got their training. What I learn is very interesting.

Teaching requires that I obtain knowledge in many areas. I need to find a teaching program that will teach me many different subjects. For example, if I want to teach it I’ll need to learn about anatomy, meditation, and breathing techniques. I’ll also need to learn about the history of and the traditions of Yoga. There are philosophies and theories that must be learned in order to become a teacher.

Apparently there are many branches to it, many more than I was first aware of and I’ll need to learn about them. People who become Yoga teachers follow a lifestyle that is different than most. They believe that it can be incorporated into everyday life. These are the things I’ll learn when I find a teacher training program. Another thing I know that I’ll need the teacher training program to teach me is how to connect with my students. I’ve never been a teacher before so it will help if I can pick up a few classroom tips. Finally, my own teacher says that the teacher training has to be accredited. In order to be a true teacher, you must obtain credentials that are recognized all over the world while looking for best Yoga teacher training programs.

I’m glad that I took the time to speak with my teacher. It seems as though there is a lot more involved in becoming a Yoga teacher than just learning all of the poses, renting a room and advertising classes. There’s special training and accredited certifications. There’s the traditions, history and every day behavior of it. I’ve learned from my teacher that it is a way of life, not just a teaching job. It is going to take me some time to find the right teacher training for me. I’ll need to take all of these things into consideration and make sure that I am ready to make the commitment. Now that I know what it takes to become a teacher of it I’m up for the new challenge and learning experience.
