Stuff's wedding of the week

It was a Wednesday night when Liam decided to get down on one knee and Liz says she hasn't had a better Wednesday yet.

The couple's intimate wedding on a beautiful property near Masterton was full of love and - if the wedding photos are anything to go by - plenty of laughs.

We'll let Liz fill you in on the details...

How did you meet? We originally met when we were at college and became friends as our groups hung out together. After school ended, we went our separate ways, only to meet up again five years later when we were both on a night out with friends. We've been inseparable ever since.

Tell us about the proposal: At the time, we were living with his parents, as we were working towards buying our first home. The thing you need to know about Liam is that when he gets an idea in his head that he wants to do something, there is no waiting around. He decided on the Monday and I came home from work on Wednesday evening to open the door of our room and find him down on one knee surrounded by candles. The rest is history and I've never had a better Wednesday yet.

Location of wedding: We got married at The Landing, a beautiful boutique B & B property just outside of Masterton. Our hosts Marianne and Robin were incredibly gracious and the property meant we were able to have the ceremony, photographs and reception all in the one place, which made for an easy-going, stress-free day.

Describe your wedding day: Simply amazing. We couldn't have asked for a better day - the weather was stunning and the day ran like clockwork, leaving us to relax and enjoy the day for the incredible experience it was. It was non-stop happiness the entire time, with laughs from end to end. The girls spent the morning taking it easy and getting ready while the boys chilled out with cigars and whisky at the hotel.

Not wanting a large wedding, we were honoured and humbled by the close friends and family who came to celebrate with us, especially as so many of our friends had travelled from overseas to be there. The day was everything we could have hoped for and more, and even the groom "winging" his wedding speech added to the brilliance of the day. It was a day filled with nothing but love and laughter, that ended with us all dancing outside under the stars.

The dress: After not having any luck finding "the dress" in stores, I did some research online and ended up ordering my dress from American designer Casablanca Bridal and kept all my fingers and toes crossed until it arrived. It did!

The flowers: The flowers were done by family-owned Victoriana Florist. Kyra and Joy Bradley did such an amazing job. Not opting for traditional wedding flowers, they truly went above and beyond to execute the romantic, garden wedding feel we were aiming for.

Highlight of the wedding: How do you pick just one? Nothing can top marrying your best friend, but having all our friends and family together to celebrate our love, share heartfelt and hilarious speeches and dance the night away is a highlight for our life, not just our wedding.

Was there any drama? I wouldn't say drama, but the day wasn't without hiccups, and while I am a true believer that these moments add to the fun, one of our guests wasn't able to make the wedding (after travelling over from England) as they ended up in hospital after obtaining a severe cut to their hand while getting ready.

The honeymoon: We spent 10 days in Fiji having a much-needed holiday in the sun, followed by five days in Melbourne catching up with friends (and doing some serious shopping).

Your photographer and favourite photo? Our photographer was the amazing Paul Howell and I cannot sing his praises enough. He managed to capture moments of the day unbeknownst to anyone and was an absolute delight to work with. It's so hard to pick just one favourite when you are given so many but one of the top would have to be the shot of Liam and I walking away hand in hand under the trees.
