Carbon nanotubes are tiny carbon structures, cylindrical in shape. With naked eyes, these look like black soot. However, they have a wide range of applications. These materials are mainly known for their electrical and thermal conductivities.

As the word suggests, nano rods refer to the morphology of non-scale objects. As far as the dimension is considered nanotubes are about 1-100 nanometers in length. The material content of nanotubes can vary from metals to semiconducting material depending upon the need.

The material is used in oxides, diamonds and organic materials as well. Going to the structure, the nanotubes are similar to the orientation of nanowires. These are shaped either as a long stick or as dowels.

The diameter of nanotubes is much smaller compared to their length. The standard aspect ratio of nanotubes is 3:5. There are several intricate technologies involved in the manufacturing procedure of nanotubes, some of them being chemical synthesis and mechanical alloying.

Closer insight of the procedures involved in making nanotubes

The involved chemical procedures make use of several ligands that serve the purpose of shape control agents. These agents further form the bonding of different facets of nano bonds with varying strengths. As an overall outcome, an elongated object comes into view.

Another fine range of tubes that have found extensive use in the everyday lives are the carbon nanotubes. These tubes possess exceptional length and have fine diameters. The vivacious range of properties that the CNTs own has made them one of the most curious elements of nano science. The carbon tubes can be single-walled or multi-walled.

Multiwalled carbon nanotubes

These are extensively used in the field of communication. Furthermore, they are also used in the areas of medical sciences. Their thickness and physical strength depend on the purpose. Depending the area of usage, the properties such as length and thickness can be varied. With further advancement in science, multi-walled carbon nanotubes are also being put to use in drug deliveries.

Properties that make multi-walled carbon nanotubes exceptional

These varieties of carbon nanotubes are the best of all the CNTs as they possess the perfect amalgamation of strength, tenacity as well as thickness. Magnanimous electrical and thermal conductivity of these CNTs are also responsible for their huge area of application.

The needs of energy consumption and transportation all around the globe are met by the manufacturing of multi-walled CNTs from conductive plastics. These are also used for structuring of composite materials. Working of flat panel consoles can also be improved by using these tubes.

The life of a battery can be enhanced putting CNTs into use. Coatings for absorbing radar emissions are also made using these tubes.

Deals with CNTs

Though surprising, with so much of usage these tubes are quite exciting buys. The multi-walled CNTs are available at reasonable prices from different stores.
