Seven Ways To Make Studying More Fun
Posted: Nov 05, 2015
Studying for an exam can be intimidating and put you under a great deal of stress. Taking steps to make the process easier can reduce your anxiety and even improve your test scores. Here are seven ways to make studying more enjoyable.
Utilize Prep Materials
If you are preparing to take a Series 63 Uniform Securities Agent State Law License exam or other complicated test, it is important to have the proper prep materials in place. Practice exams and questions can put you on the right track and prepare you for what the exam will actually look like.
Choose the Right Environment
Finding a quiet, comfortable place to study is important. Outside noise from the television or other distractions can negatively impact your focus and lead to poor retention of information. Select an environment that appeals to you. If you enjoy the outdoors, find a peaceful spot at a local park so that you can experience the fresh air while you study. If it is cold outside, a local library or quiet coffee shop can give you the perfect place to cram in comfort for the series 63 exam or other test.
Study With Friends
Sometimes it is more fun to study with friends, and often it can even help you to remember information more effectively. Teaching others the things you know can help you to remember them even better, and the other people in your group can assist you in understanding points that are stumping you. If you are a very social person, this will also bring your strengths into play. Just make sure that you are able to focus the gathering on test preparation and don’t get distracted by gossip or other elements of socializing.
Make it Fun
Studying does not have to be boring. In order to make it more enjoyable, try to find ways to be creative in your methods. For example, if you are meeting with a group, design a trivia game that will allow you to review the information while having a good time. You can even have a prize for the winner!
Multitasking and Repetition
The more often something is repeated, the easier you will remember the information. Since you cannot study 24 hours a day, find ways to incorporate repetition during other activities. Record lists and passages that you need to memorize, and listen to them out loud while you do dishes or laundry. Bring notecards to any appointments that you need to attend, and review them while you wait. Make voice notes on your computer and hook them up to your car’s audio system so you can review while you drive. This will allow you to get extra studying in during time that you would otherwise waste.
Stay Healthy
Your health is important to a good test performance, so get plenty of sleep and eat a healthy diet in the weeks preceding the exam.
Start Early
It is very difficult to be successful if you procrastinate. Begin studying as soon as possible in order to achieve the best results.
Ace the Exam
Whether you are studying for the Series 63 exam or cramming for an English test, these strategies will help the process run more smoothly. Give a few of them a try to ace your next exam!
