There are many competent leaders, however few qualify as great. There are qualities that set great leaders apart from other leaders. If you want to join the ranks of great leaders, make sure you express these qualities always.

Qualities of great leaders include the following;

1. Integrity

Great leaders inspire people not just through their words but through their actions too. They understand that building honest relationships is necessary to achieve success in the workplace. They demonstrate that they believe in their vision, not because they are ego driven but because it is the right thing to do. They also exhibit strict adherence to ethical and moral principles; they do the right thing and also help others to do the right things in every situation.

2. Team building ability

Great leaders have the ability to build a strong and highly effective team in order to achieve the vision. However; if a team is weak and not effective, it is generally a leadership failure.

3. Clear vision

The ability to create and communicate a clear vision is one of the most important qualities of great leaders. Every team relies on their leader to show them where they are going, how to get there, and why they are going. Great leaders have the ability to create inspiring and convincing vision and also make adequate plans to achieve the vision.

4. Ability to motivate and inspire

The ability to inspire and motivate people helps great leaders to deliver their vision. They motivate people by leading by example. Great leaders know how to motivate every member of their team to contribute their quota to the success of the organization.

5. Willingness to take risks

Great leaders have the ability to take the right risks at the appropriate time. They are willing to take risks necessary to move their organization forward.

6. Strong communication skills

Great leaders possess outstanding communication skills. They have the ability to clearly declare their vision and their commitment to the vision.

7. They are positive

Great leaders are always positive. They have the drive and enthusiasm to move forward in every situation. They also give positive criticism to their followers.

Through determination, focus, and discipline, you can improve your leadership skills by constantly practicing these qualities.
