Coconut oil is the one of the safest oils that can eb used along with any weight loss program diet. Along with Olive oil, it is accepted to be taken on daily basis, in small quantity. The peculiarity of coconut is that unlike other oils, this contains medium chain fatty acids. Most other oils have the long chain fatty acids. These medium chain fatty acids are easy for metabolism as they are sent directly to the liver from the digestive tract. They are used right away for energy production or otherwise used for ketone body production. The fact that it does not get stored as fat, makes it an ideal choice for weight loss.

This way the body needs to gear up the metabolic rate and uses more energy than usual. The medium chain fatty acids require more amount of energy than normal fat molecules for the metabolism, thus helping in weight loss as a gradual process.

Coconut oil is also effective in reducing the appetite causing to eat less. When the consumption is less and energy expenditure is more, the excess body weight is reduced. Since there is more energy produced, there will be a feel of satiation which automatically reduce the calorie intake by the person.

Coconut oil Vs Olive oil for weight loss

When compared with olive oil, coconut has the only advantage that it can boost the metabolism better than the other. But the other factors are rather against it. While olive oil has monounsaturated fatty acids, less calorie content and can be used is higher quantity, coconut has more calories, contain medium chain fatty acids as main component and should be used in only specific quantity.
