Stationary is all about office supplies, greeting cards, pencils, pens and more, in short all about paper and its supplies. This industry is a very traditional and one of the most popular mediums of communication also. This is mostly used for public as well as private communication inspite of the various new mediums coming in every other day. There are a lot of printing techniques also deployed for printing and this includes offset printing, flat printing, letter press printing, embossing, thermographic printing, engraving and more. While printing brochures, leaflets, hoardings, banners, books, manuals, wedding cards, invitations, visiting cards and more the cost mostly depends on the quality of the paper used and the printing technique and use of colors. A rundown of a few of the printing techniques.

Embossing – As the name suggests if you want to do printing which creates raised letters over the surface of the paper, then the embossing method of printing is used. This kind of technique is mainly used in greeting and invitation cards.

Thermographic printing – This is a lengthy process but does not cost you much. In this process an ink that remains wet even after printing is used. Once the printing is done this wet inked surface is dusted with powdered polymer. Then with the help of a machine or hand the vacuuming of the paper is done so that no excess powder is left on the surface of the paper and finally the heating of the same takes place. This will result in drying of the polymer bond and the wet ink and the resultant product will be a print which is similar to engraving.

Letter press printing – This is a single color kind of printing and the characters are to be impressed upon the page in this method. The print could either be blind or inked. As the motifs make use of movable plates it is easy to add designs or motifs to it also.

Digital Printing – This type of printing is very different from the traditional methods of printing mentioned above and uses a digital based image for printing. The digital printers usually used include the laser jet or inkjet printers and the printing is done through the computers. This kind of printing is very costly compared to traditional printing methods but it comes with a lot of benefits also like you can print anywhere anytime, the time required is very less and the quality is very good. Due to its many advantages digital printing services are overpowering offset printing and other traditional methods of printing.
