The Capability Maturity Model Integration CMMI is a process model that provides a clear definition of what an organization should do to promote behaviors that lead to improved performance. With five "maturity levels" or three "levels of ability," CMMI defines the most important elements that are needed to build great products, or deliver great services, and made them all wrapped in a global model. CMMI is to improve performance by improving business processes. In particular, its management processes associated in how organizations develop or acquire goods based solutions and identify and provide services

CMMI is a framework for Software Process Improvement. CMMI is divided into Maturity Levels, then these Maturity Levels are further divided into Process Areas and each Process Area is further divided into Specific Practices. CMMI Certification model has 5 aspects as follows:

Maturity levels: A range of 5 levels of maturity process; where the highest (5th) level is a theoretical idyllic location where processes are managed systematically through a combination of process optimization and continuous process improvement.

Main treatment areas: A key area identifies a set of related activities that, when performed together, achieve a set of goals considered important.

Objectives: The objectives of an abbreviated key sector states that must exist for that important area of the process implemented in an effective and sustainable manner. The extent to which the goals / objectives have been met is an indicator of how much capability the organization has established at that maturity level. The goals signify the scope, boundaries, and intent of each key sector.

Common structures: Common features include practices that implement and institutionalize a key area (KPA). There are five types of common features:

  • Commitment to perform,
  • Ability to perform
  • Activities carried
  • Measurement and analysis, and
  • Verification of the implementation.
Benefits of adopting CMMI directors: There are many benefits of implementing CMMI in IT / Software Development Organization; some of these benefits are listed below:
  • Principles for maintaining project quality begins in the minds of programmers subordinated to senior programmers and project managers.
  • Centralized QMS for the implementation of projects to ensure consistency in the documentation means less learning new resources cycle, improving the management of the project status.
  • Integration of software engineering best practices in organizations as described in CMMI model.
  • Market demand
  • Calls Performance
  • Process Improvement
