BCAA 8:1:1 Haya Labs Review
Posted: Dec 21, 2015
BCAA 8:1:1 from Haya Labs is slightly new on the supplement market and I got it as a gift, so I decided to try it. The main reason is that I need very good recovery and I can't fully recover from the food I eat. I train BJJ 6 times per week and I lift weights 3 times per week.
Here is the deal: Usually I take Musclepharms BCAA 3:1:2 but, this time, I got these BCAAs as a gift from my girlfriend. I took the product 1 week and realized that until that day I absorbed the L-isoleucine better. You will ask how did you understand that. The answer is simple: if L-isoleucine is in higher doses it weakens the action of L-Leucine, which is the main amino acid in the BCAAs.
As you see, the BCAA ratio in Musclepharm BCAA is 3:1:2, and in the Haya Labs is 8:1:1. More Leucine means more recovery and in my case the 8:1:1 ratio works way better. I feel ready for the next workout session and I noticed that I am leaner than before.
Maybe that is because one of the L-Leucines benefits is that it oxidizes the fatty acids when the glycogen is depleted from the muscles and the body starts using the fats as an energy source. The glycogen in my muscles is in low levels really often, because of the BJJ.
I will stop with the benefits here.
There is a tiny problem in the Haya Labs BCAA 8:1:1. It tastes awful and does not mix easily. The real BCAAs don’t mix easily, but this guy here is a tough one. The solubility is not a pain in the ass, but the taste. The product is unflavored and when you drink it gives you the feeling you are in a chem laboratory. But there is a solution: take a scoop of the BCAA powder, put it in your mouth, drink water afterwards and the whole thing is done in seconds.
So, here are my ratings for the product:
Recovery: 10/10 – clearly this is the product that works the most on my body. I will try some more formulas, but definitely will use Haya Labs BCAA 8:1:1 from now on.
Taste: 1/10 - no added flavor, so the taste is not very good if you try to drink it.
Solubility: 3/10 – It can be mixed only in a shaker with a protein powder. If you don’t use protein powder just put the dose in your mouth and drink water afterwards.
Price: 9/10 – compared to other BCAA, this one is cheap.
This was my first product review, hope it was helpful!
