Samsung plans to release the next generation Galaxy S in March 2016 enhanced by 3D touch technology

Posted: Dec 28, 2015
Fans of the Samsung Galaxy S series are in luck as the company plans to release the next generation Galaxy S7 in March 2016. Samsung fans who are hoping for a completely revamped Galaxy S7 are in for a bit of disappointment however as it will be similar to this year’s completely redesigned S6 model. While there has been a lot of speculation and rumors surrounding the new generation, a new report claimed to set majority of the rumors and speculations straight. The report offers up a long list of new features although it is possible that some of the features will not make it into the final model.
Samsung plans to add some great new features in the next Galaxy S phone including one of them reportedly being the best new feature in Apple’s iPhone 6 – a pressure sensitive display. Historically, Apple and Samsung have played the game of catch up with each other’s technological advancements over time. The 3D touch technology took some time to iron out the kinks but now that they have been worked out, Samsung wants to close the gap between the iOS and Android touch screen technology before it widens further.
Aside from the 3D touch feature, the next Galaxy S will also feature a USB Type C port that supports lightning-fast charging which according to the report, will be able to pull a full day’s charge in under 30 minutes. In the meantime, Samsung is toying with other ideas including a retina scanner, an enhanced camera for low light conditions, and a microSD slot for adding extra storage however, those features are not set in stone yet.
Similar to the Galaxy S6, Samsung will launch two different versions of the S7 including a regular Galaxy S7 and a Galaxy S7 edge with a curved edge display. There have been rumors of Galaxy S7 Plus and S7 Edge Plus models however nothing has been confirmed. Although maintaining the same design as the Galaxy S6, the S7 is reportedly going to adapt the camera on the back of the device in order to lay flat instead of jutting out like it currently does in the S6 model.
The Samsung Galaxy S7 is set to be released in March 2016 which follows the timeline of previous releases and gives the phone plenty of time on shelves before Apple releases its completely redesigned iPhone 7 later in the year. As we get closer to its release date, hopefully more light will be shed on what new features will be added to the S7 however, the pressure sensitive 3D touch is confirmed which is a major advancement in Android technology.
