Landscaping is an art and science of creating and developing outdoor spaces. These spaces can be designed in multiple ways inculcating guidelines and features of green architecture, urban development, renewal space rejuvenation and other architectural fields involving the scope.

Unity, geometry, balance, colors, simplicity, variety, conservation and expansion are few key factors that are involved in the process. A balance of these factors when used to produce a desirable design, create a space that is green and enhance the environment both functionally as well as aesthetically and provides a meaning to that space. Landscaping and its designing is a raging field that is coming up with various profound applications.

Landscaping and its plans can vary as per wide-ranging factors like spatial area, orientation, climate, soil type, client’s requirements, budget, architect’s/designer’s personal style of designing and other contributing project technicalities. Usually, the process of landscaping goes like the following mentioned steps:The area to be developed is analysed in terms of area and shape. This defines the layout and design of the patch.

Then the soil type is researched for the kind of flora that is suitable for the respective type. The flora not going along with the soil type will not flourish and would be a misuse of time and resources. The best flora is the low maintenance one which is easy growing in nature. This doesn’t imply that one has to compromise with personal choice or aesthetic value. There are wide varieties of plants that are easy growing, good looking and flourishing in nature. Therefore, flora selection is crucial and must be handled with care with expert suggestions. Conservation of many breeds can be promoted and urban rejuvenation can be done.

The planning and layout is then designed in addition to other additive features of landscaping like seating [which comes in variety of natural and/or polymer based products], fountains, birdbaths, stone fencing, pathways, boundary fences etc. which completes the picture. The choice of material must go with the texture and colour of the flora. Natural products like jute, wood, stone or bamboo furniture creates natural environment in the premises. The furniture must be low maintenance as it is exposed in the outdoors. There can be swings and sandpit for the children for them to spend their day more near nature. These design elements help increasing the user involvement and promote eco-friendly ethics.

Once all the plans and materials are sanctioned and executed on site, it must be made sure there are proper and well maintained services for the design. Water, manure, sunlight, wind must be available at proper times to ensure proper nourishment of the greenery.

Highly functional and aesthetically enchanting design that can be incorporated is Kitchen Garden. Kitchen gardens are wonderful designs that provide endless benefits. Along with chemical free organic groceries and fruits, one has access to extensive knowledge about variety of flora. They experience the joys of fresh and organic products daily maintaining their gardens as well as their health. Compost manure can use the organic waste in manure production; continuously increasing the green bar will make sure that this is an excellent investment of fund, time, and products.
