Striking looks

The word Evo stands for the word evolution and the new Punto really looks more evolved now. The car looks striking and more upmarket now inside out.The redesigned bumper comes with follow me headlamps and integrated fog lamps. There is a lavish usage of chrome all around front and rear bumpers, around the fog lamp cluster and also on door handles. The wing mirrors with integrated LED blinkers and new 14-spoke 16-inches alloy wheels complete the side profile. The rear also gets cute LED tail lamps.

Soothing interiors

The overall interiors are dual toned with beige and black colours but the front panel catches instant attention, thanks to its glossy black colour. Only the top of the line variant gets all black interiors. The instrument panel with round shaped metres and aluminium inserts does look smart. The leather wrapped steering wheel has tilt adjustment and mounted audio controls on it. The soft cushioned seats are broad and come with adjustable head rests. The cabin is very spacious and has few storage spaces inside apart from the boot space extending to 280 litres.

Interesting features

Although automatic AC is seen only in top end trims, other interesting features like 12 v power socket, digital clock, speed limit buzzer, automatic door lock, fire prevention system, mileage indicator and seat-belt warning lights are standard across all variants. Safety features like ABS, EBD, airbags and crash sensors are seen in top end trims. Integrated CD/MP3/FM player with Microsoft Blue & Me, Voice Commands, Bluetooth, USB, and AUX-in connectivity are other top end luxury features.

Old mechanics

Despite all these, the heart of the car remains the same as there have been no changes on the mechanical front. Fiat continues to offer the Punto with same engine options - the 1.2-litre that produces 67 bhp and 96Nm and a 1.4-litre unit that produces 89bhp of power with 115Nm torque, alongside the 1.3-litre diesel in 2 states of tune – 75bhp power with 197Nm torque and the other at 90bhp power with 209Nm torque. All these variants have been mated to the traditional five-speed manual gearbox.

Fiat sells Punto Evo in India within a price range of Rs 5.14 lakhs to Rs 7.93 lakhs which feels quite economical.
