Mahindra&Mahindra, the Indian automobile giant, has been bringing out bigger sized vehicles, for the Indian customers. The latest M&M vehicle, about to be launched in January 2016, is its compact SUV, code named S101, the Mahindra KUV100.

Price, colors, variants

The Compact SUV, KUV100, is expected to cost between 3.8-6.4lakhs and this car will be sold in 7 colors- silver, red, orange, black, grey, aquamarine and white. KUV100 is expected to be sold in 7 variants, which are K2, K2+, K4, K4+, K6, K6+ and K8, all of which are reportedly incorporated with airbags and ABS.

Engine specifications

KUV100 is set to be the first petrol powered vehicle from M&M, since the company had only been manufacturing diesel vehicles, so far. It is thought that the petrol KUV100 will house the mFALCON G80 1.2-litre petrol engine, which will produce power of 82bhp and torque of 114Nm. The diesel variant is expected to be fitted with 1.2-litre mFALCON D75 diesel motor, which produces power and torque of 77bhp and 190Nm, respectively. Though there is no official word, it is expected that the vehicle will have a 5-speed manual transmission incorporated to its engine.

Interiors

Since the car is yet to be launched, the picture about the interiors is slightly hazy, however, it is clear, from the sneak views, that the car will have an option of 3+3 seating, which means that the front seat can accommodate 3 passengers along with the driver. In order to facilitate this, the gear-box has been moved to the dashboard and the centre console is almost flat, to house the gearbox. When not needed, the middle seat of the front row can be folded to make a hand-rest. Another interesting feature of the cabin is that the hand brake is not the regular one featured in most cars, but a pull-type handbrake, similar to that of the Chevrolet Tavera. The quality and comfort of the upholstery as well as dashboard seems to be in line with the ones in Mahindra TUV300. It is also though that the interiors are done up in a black-beige combination of colors. All the windows are power windows and the power steering wheel is tilt-adjustable.

Exteriors

The KUV100 looks smart and new, with its conspicuous lines on the bonnet and narrow, but powerful headlamps in the front, on either side of the ‘toothy’ grille, which is the trademark of Mahindra. The roof-rails, add to the style of the vehicle. When seen from the rear, the body of the KUV100, looks muscular, with its bulging bumper, which is covered by a black cladding. The tail-lamps are petal-shaped, bringing elegance to the vehicle. This vehicle, with its athletic, yet charming look, is aimed at the youth.
