Choosing an organic skin care product means you are looking for something which is free of synthetic materials and you want the benefits of a product which is sensitive to the skin and also good for the planet. Our hands in particular need close attention and care which is why organic hand cream is a popular and effective product for ensuring the damage that comes with regular washing, cleaning and general use is recognised and treated respectfully. Alternative hand creams and products, even those claiming to be natural, may contain the harmful chemicals you’re trying to avoid and could be damaging for the skin.

It is not a secret that there are many chemicals used in the cosmetics industry and some of these chemicals can be damaging or too harsh for many skin types, due to the ingredients contained within. More and more people now are looking for organic skin care products to keep their skin in the best possible condition. One issue which you may come up against time and again though, is finding genuinely organic skin products and not those which claim to be natural but are in fact rife with synthetic ingredients which are no good for the skin at all.

The key ingredients to look out for which are often synthetic include emollients, humectants, surfactants, emulsifiers and of course preservatives and identifying the difference between those which are synthetic and those which are entirely organic and natural. Products should not describe themselves as organic if they are not but they may use similar words or words with connotations which may seem close enough such as ‘natural’ and ‘hydrating’. The internet is a great resource for finding out which ingredients are a tell-tale sign of a non-organic synthetic product. There are a wide range of synthetic ingredients which are readily used in skincare and cosmetic products so you can simply get to know their names and look out for them in the ingredient lists of products which you’re considering. You can even do it on the go with internet on your smartphone so if you’re looking at a new product and you’re not sure whether it’s natural and organic you can look up any suspicious ingredients on the spot and know whether it’s the right product for your needs.

The main thing to remember is that there are organic skin care products out there and to describe themselves as organic they have to prove the natural content of their products. With this in mind you should always be able to make an informed decision when choosing your skin care products.
