It is no secret that cohesive development progresses towards a better and brighter future. Only optimistic motives and finances can help in the development and that too with the coordinated efforts of the people. It is probably the time where every individual can become a change maker in the society in his/her own personal capacity by contributing a little. The social development in Odisha cannot hinder any more if dedicated efforts are contributed by every section of the society.

Focusing on the major areas of social work in rural communities of Odisha, it can become a lot easier to micro manage each and every impending issue. However, there is an instant requirement of overall participation of the different sections and unless that happens, the concept of cohesive development may not come to prominence.

The following highlights the responsibilities of the individual sections that can help in delivering the change through social development in Odisha.

  • State and central governments – It has been noted that in past decades, the central and state government have launched several social development programmes for the upliftment of the poor, but there is a minimal success in the grounds in a few regions. Hence, it is important that governments conduct regular checks with the administrative individuals on duty for actual implementations. Besides, it also gives an opportunity to the governments to track their own programmes and take promising steps to engage with the rural people.
  • District administration and local authorities – After the people in power, the major responsibility comes in the hands of district collector and the administration as well as the authorities at the local bodies, such as Gram Panchayat, etc. They must utilize the given amount from the government in the right areas and in suitable proportion. For example, if there is a need of building toilets and less need of road development then the funds must be released accordingly instead of vice versa.
  • NGOs, civil society and volunteers – There is a great importance of NGOs, civil society and volunteers executing the social work in rural communities in Odisha, but it has also found in a few areas that there is a pandemonium when there is no coordination between all of them. Hence, they could a follow a strategic approach by dividing the areas in between. In case of volunteers, the students or other individuals can help in creating awareness among the rural community regarding different activities.
  • Rural people – Apart from the above all, the major role can be played by the people of rural communities itself. They can indulge in different activities and make it highly successful in compliance with the administration. Since there are many programmes for rural development; it gives the people a huge number of opportunities such as becoming an entrepreneur or a skilled worker or so on.

Following individual duties can nurture the social work in rural communities of Odisha and conclusively help in building a better India. Hence, it is important that each individual plays its distinctive role honestly.
