Refractory Selection for The Inlet End Of The Float Glass Tin Bath

The inlet end of the tin bath refers to the liquid flow path of the float glass production line, which connects the cooling zone and the tin bath. It consists of flow channel, spout, oblique crown, flat crown, breast wall and cover tile. It is the choke joint of the glass production line.

The flow channel has a flared stepped structure, which consists of bottom block, sidewall block and cushion block. This structure can ensure upper layer molten glass of better quality flow into the spout through the flow channel and reduce the erosion by molten glass to the sidewall.?-? fused cast alumina block with dense structure, good thermal stability and corrosion resistance is used here. The spout is the groove refractory brick that partially extends into the tin bath. The spout consists of a lip brick and two sidewall bricks. The spout bricks are subjected to high temperature and solid-liquid-gas corrosion.?-? fused cast alumina block is used here because its strong resistance to glass corrosion and less pollution to glass quality. The top crown consists of oblique crown and flat crown. High quality silica brick is used here. There are temperature holes on the crown to detect and control the temperature of the flow channel. The breast wall is built with fireclay brick. There are heating holes on the breast wall. The security gate is made of nickel-chromium heat-resistant steel. When accidents happen, the security gate can be put down to intercept the flow. The regulating gate is used to regulate the flow of molten glass and control the the width of the glass. It can also effectively prevent the furnace atmosphere into the tin bath and improve the quality of glass. Since a part of the regulating gate is in contact with the glass liquid, thus fused cast silica ceramic with good corrosion resistance and impact resistance is used here. Besides the parts mentioned above, flame block brick, cover tile and gas block brick are also arranged on the channel. Those parts usually adopt refractory concrete, sillimanite brick or fused silica brick. Steel structure is also necessary to meet the overall expansion of the inlet end and connect tightly with the tin bath.
