SASTA University is one of the popular institutions in south India that offers a wide range of undergraduate and postgraduate courses. Students who are looking forward to take admission in the varsity must know about the pros and cons as shared by alumni and current students on a discussion forum.

Pros:

  • Cultural Activities

If one is inclined towards art forms like Music, Dance, Dramatics etc, then SASTRA is the best place to be at. The university organizes annual cultural events at a large scale that witness a footfall in thousands. For students who want to showcase their talent, the varsity provides the best platform.

  • Food

Out of all the discussion chains about SASTRA, one about the food is the most read and participated. SASTRA is known for its canteen – Krishna that provides lip smacking food at cheap prices. Alumni and current students boast the most about one thing and that’s the canteen food. Definitely worth a try!

  • Admission Process

SASTRA University has the most transparent admission procedure among all the self financing universities. It does not include management quota and reservation on the basis of cast.

  • Campus Placements

The varsity is the safest place to study when it comes to campus placements. IT giants like TCS and Accenture conduct bulk hiring wherein they recruit students in hundreds and thousands. In 2015, TCS recruited more than 1300 students, making an all-time high record for the university.

Cons:

  • Bureaucracy

Students feel that SASTRA and its staff makes them run around the campus for rut work like collecting bills, signature, receipts etc. It results in a lot of wastage of time sticking to meaningless rules and regulations.

  • Climate

The climate is certainly unfavorable for those hate summer. The temperature during day is unbearable and one does not have a choice but to walk around the campus under the scorching sun.

  • Faculty

It is a common opinion that faculty at SASTRA is not up to the mark. Only 10-20% of the faculty members are good, rest of them fail to impart quality education and stick to the conventional ways of teaching.
