In India, Nissan operates through its wholly owned subsidiary Nissan Motor India Private Limited. It was incorporated in 2005 and along with its joint-venture partner Renault, the company set up its manufacturing plant as well as research and development facility in Chennai. In India, Nissan sell vehicles under two brand names - Nissan and Datsun. For many years since 2005, Nissan sold its vehicles only under its own brand name. However, sensing the changed market sentiments and pull for the budget brands, Nissan in 2014 resurrected its low-cost Datsun brand with the launch of Datsun Go Hatchback. Its joint venture with French automaker, Renault, is unique and one-of-its-kind. This partnership has proved stronger over the years and has stood test of the time.

In India, Nissan is present in almost all popular market segments. It offers hatchback, sedan, SUV as well as vehicle for the people mover category. Nissan offers two hatchbacks - Micra Active and Micra. While Micra Active priced between Rs 4.48 and 5.02 lakh is targeted at budget buyers, its bigger brother Micra retailed in the range of Rs 5.33 - 7.48 lakh is positioned in the premium hatchback category. For sedan fans, Nissan has very spacious and comfortable Sunny priced between Rs 7.51 to Rs 10.38 lakh. For luring the SUV buyers, Nissan has Terrano in its stable that is essentially a re-badged version of very successful Renault Duster. That said, Nissan has made comprehensive design changes in order to differentiate Terrano from the Duster. Terrano costs starts from Rs 9.99 to Rs 12.92 lakh depending on the variant. In people mover category, Nissan has launched Evalia MPV few years back though this vehicle is not able to make its mark in the punishingly competitive MPV category of Indian automobile market. Evalia starts at Rs 9.14 lakh while its top variant will cost you Rs 12.22 lakh.

Along with its own Cars, Nissan also sells Datsun brand vehicles in India. Nissan has resurrected budget friendly Datsun tag and launched it in India in 2014. Under the Datsun, currently Datsun Go Hatchback and Datsun Go+ MPV are retailed in the Indian market. The Unique selling proposition of these cars is their ultra-competitive low price. While Go hatchback starts at Rs 3.23 lakh, Go+ MPV with 7-seat configuration is priced at Rs 3.7 lakh for base variant (all-prices, ex-showroom, Delhi).
