The need for an international standard for IT service management clearly has for many years. As information technology has evolved, and the quality of service has become an excellent business differentiator, yet it was only a matter of time before such a developed standard developed named ISO 20000 for ITSMS. ISO 20000 certification includes specification for a service management system as well as code of conduct.

ISO 20000 requires an integrated process approach when the service provider plans, establishes, implements, operates, monitors, reviews, maintains and improves a service management system.
